Tree Meditation
Tree meditation: standing meditation where each student becomes a tree — roots, trunk and branches — focusing on breathing and balance.
How to play
- Stand with feet firmly on the ground: the roots.
- Spine straight like the trunk.
- Arms up like branches moving gently in the wind.
- Breathe slowly for a minute, then try balancing on one foot.
Rules
- Silence.
- Eyes open or closed, your choice.
Variations
Easier
Two feet only.
Standard
One minute on two feet, then on one.
Harder
Eyes closed on one foot.
Adaptations
- Reduced balance: near a wall.
- Limited mobility: seated version.
Learning goals
- Encourage mindfulness.
- Improve static balance.
