The Streamer Tickles Me
In pairs, one child lies down with eyes closed while the other slowly glides a long streamer along their arms, legs and back, like a gentle tickle rain. It builds body awareness, relaxation and caring for a partner.
How to play
- The teacher demonstrates with a child: glides the streamer very slowly along their arm and asks, "Where do you feel it?" (1 min).
- In pairs, one child lies on their back and the other glides the streamer from hand to shoulder, on both arms (1 min).
- Now on the legs, from feet to knees, and the child lying down says where they feel it (1 min).
- The child rolls over and the streamer floats down onto their back like rain, several times (1 min).
- Switch roles and repeat arms, legs and back (2 min).
Rules
- The streamer moves slowly, like a feather.
- We don't touch faces or necks.
- If my friend says "stop," I stop.
Variations
Easier
For 3-year-olds, do only arms and legs, and the teacher visits each pair guiding the hand of the child doing the tickling.
Standard
For 4-year-olds, do arms, legs and back, and the child lying down names the body part.
Harder
For 5-year-olds, the child lying down guesses with eyes closed which part is touched and whether it's moving up or down.
Adaptations
- Autism or touch sensitivity: the child can choose arms only, keep eyes open, or only be the one doing the tickling.
- Limited mobility: stay in the wheelchair and receive the streamer on arms and hands.
- Hearing impairment: agree beforehand on a "stop" gesture (raised hand) instead of saying it.
Learning goals
- Recognize body parts by touch.
- Relax with a gentle sensation.
- Care for a partner with gentle actions.
Equipment for a class of 25
- serpentinas de papel: 25
- colchonetas: 6
- música
Teacher tip
Play very soft music and talk in whispers. Always ask permission before touching ("May I?") and accept a no; lots of streamers will tear, so keep spare pieces handy.
