The Body Rocket
Body rocket: a short, exciting warm-up for little ones where their bodies become rockets that prepare, count down and blast off.
How to play
- Everyone crouches spread out: rockets on the launch pad.
- Engine check: move ankles, knees, hips, shoulders and neck as the teacher narrates.
- Count down from 10 to 0 out loud, rising little by little.
- On "blast off!" jump with arms up and "fly" around for 20 seconds; land softly in a crouch and repeat 3–4 times.
Rules
- Rockets never crash into each other.
- Always land softly with bent knees.
Variations
Easier
Fly walking and land standing.
Standard
Four launches with 20-second flights.
Harder
Flights with turns, direction changes on "meteor!" and one-foot launches.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: launch with arms and fly in their own way of moving.
- Overstimulated students: longer landings with deep breaths.
Learning goals
- Mobilize joints through pretend play.
- Raise activation gradually.
