QR Code Warm-Up: Every Station Has a Video
Six warm-up stations, each marked with a QR code linking to a short demo video. Groups scan, watch the model and perform the exercise without any explanation from the teacher, which builds independence when warming up.
How to play
- Form six groups of four or five, give each group a phone and a starting station; each cone has a QR code with a 20-30 second video (1 min).
- First three stations: scan the code, watch the video once and do the exercise for 45 seconds (ankle, hip and thoracic spine mobility); a different person holds the phone at each station (3 min).
- Last three stations, building intensity: skipping, lunges with a trunk twist and light two-foot hops (3 min).
- Jog as a group to the center of the court repeating your favorite exercise (1 min).
- Debrief: which exercise was hardest to understand from the video alone, and what was missing (2 min).
Rules
- No one runs with a phone in hand: it stays on the cone while the group exercises.
- Follow the rotation order so two groups never share a station.
- Watch videos muted or at low volume so you don't disturb others.
- If an exercise isn't clear, ask before improvising.
Variations
Easier
Each code also includes a still image showing the three technique cues.
Standard
Six video stations rotating every minute.
Harder
Each group records a new video for one station, which replaces the current one next class.
Adaptations
- Hearing impairment: videos have captions or on-screen text with the cues.
- Visual impairment: a partner describes the video out loud and guides the exercise.
- Limited mobility: each video ends with a seated version of the exercise.
Learning goals
- Lead a general warm-up independently using a video model.
- Interpret technique cues for mobility and activation exercises.
- Use a phone as a support tool without interrupting activity.
Equipment for a class of 25
- QR codes: 6
- tablets or phones: 6
- cones: 6
Teacher tip
Link the codes to a school folder that doesn't require signing in, and check they load on the schoolyard signal. Laminate the QR codes so you can reuse them all year.
