Mirror Shadows
Partners face each other and one copies the other's movements like a mirror image — a calm warm-up that grabs attention at the start of class.
How to play
- Pair students up facing each other about an arm's length apart.
- One partner leads slow movements of arms, legs and trunk; the other mirrors them.
- Switch roles every 45 seconds at your signal.
- Gradually speed up and add steps in place, then finish with a slow round.
Rules
- Leaders move slowly enough to be followed.
- Keep the arm's-length space.
- No touching.
Variations
Easier
Arms only, very slow.
Standard
Whole-body movements at medium speed.
Harder
Add traveling: the pair moves around the gym while mirroring.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: seated mirroring with arm movements.
- Attention needs: the teacher leads and the whole class mirrors.
Learning goals
- Improve body awareness and coordination.
- Build focus and partner communication.
