Hands and Feet on the Colors
Each child has four colored spots on the floor, and a cardboard spinner tells them which hand or foot to place on which color. It builds body awareness, balance in silly positions and color recognition.

How to play
- Each child stands in front of their four spots (red, blue, green and yellow) with room around them. The teacher shows the spinner: an arrow that points to a hand or foot and a color (1 min).
- Try one cue at a time: the teacher spins and says, for example, “one hand on red.” Everyone does it and stands back up (1 min).
- Now link two cues without moving the first: “hand on red… and foot on blue.” Hold it for a count of three (2 min).
- With three cues in a row, we make bridge, table or spider shapes; if we tumble, we laugh and start again (2 min).
- To finish, the teacher calls “All off!” and we stretch up tall, then sit on our favorite color (1 min).
Rules
- Everyone plays on their own spots.
- If I fall, that's okay: I just start again.
- Wait for the spinner to stop before moving.
Variations
Easier
For 3-year-olds, only hands or only feet, one cue at a time, and the teacher touches the right spot.
Standard
For 4-year-olds, two cues in a row mixing hands and feet.
Harder
For 5-year-olds, name right and left, and a child spins for the group.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: tape the spots onto the wheelchair tray or a lap tray and use only hands.
- Visual impairment: use spots with different textures (sandpaper, felt, rubber) and name each color by its texture.
- Less coordination: one-cue positions only, and the child may rest a knee on the floor anytime.
Learning goals
- Recognize and name hands, feet and sides of the body.
- Hold balance positions on several points of support.
- Identify and match colors.
Equipment for a class of 25
- marcas de colores: 100
- ruleta de cartón: 1
Teacher tip
Tape the spots down so they don't slide, and leave plenty of space between children. The usual mistake is rushing: the fun is in holding the shape, not changing it fast.
