Futsal Diamond Rondo: Pass, Support and Rotate
Groups of five set up in a diamond of cones that mirrors futsal's 1-2-1 shape (defender, two wingers and pivot) and move the ball while rotating spots. It activates the lower body and reviews basic support and rotation before the game.

How to play
- Each group sets a diamond about 10 meters across with four cones and one defender in the middle; dynamic hip and ankle mobility with a ball at your feet (2 min).
- Two-touch circulation: pass and follow your pass to the next cone; the middle defender only blocks passing lanes (2 min).
- System rotation: when the defender passes to a winger, they move up into that spot and the winger drops back, as in the 3-1 attack (3 min).
- Live 4v1 rondo: if the defender intercepts, they swap with whoever lost the ball; count consecutive passes (3 min).
Rules
- Passes on the ground; control with the sole or inside of the foot.
- The defender never goes in studs-up or from behind.
- Leave at least a 3-meter gap between neighboring diamonds.
- Call your position out loud as you arrive: "Back!", "Wing!", "Pivot!".
Variations
Easier
Rondo with no defender and unlimited touches.
Standard
Two touches and one lane-blocking defender.
Harder
One touch and two defenders in the middle.
Adaptations
- Students with visual impairments: use a ball with a bell and a smaller diamond with tall cones.
- Students with an ankle injury: pass by hand from the back cone and call the rotations.
- Students new to futsal: start at pivot, where you receive facing the ball and lay it back.
Learning goals
- Warm up ankles, knees and hips with sport-specific movement.
- Review the diamond shape and how the back player and wingers rotate.
- Improve body orientation before receiving the ball.
Equipment for a class of 25
- futsal balls: 6
- cones: 24
- pinnies: 6
Teacher tip
Short on futsal balls? A slightly deflated soccer ball bounces less and does the job. The typical mistake is passing and standing still; ask for a movement after every pass.
