Futsal: 2v1 Waves to the Goal That Opens
A futsal warm-up in waves of two attackers against one defender toward two cone goals; the teacher opens only one of them at the last moment. It raises the heart rate and forces players to look up and attack the right space.
How to play
- Free dribbling around the court with changes of pace, sole and outside-of-the-foot touches, plus dynamic hip mobility (3 min).
- Explain the task: at the far end there are two 2-meter cone goals; the teacher covers one with a pinnie just as the attackers cross midcourt (1 min).
- 2v1 waves: attackers start with the ball at midcourt and the defender from the end line; goals count only in the open goal. Rotate attacker-defender-line (4 min).
- Add that a defender who steals the ball can score in a cone mini goal at midcourt (2 min).
Rules
- No slide tackles or shoulder charges: the defender only intercepts or blocks.
- A goal counts only after one pass between the attackers.
- Each wave lasts 8 seconds at most; then players leave even without a shot.
- The next pair does not start until the previous one is done.
Variations
Easier
Both goals stay open and the attackers choose.
Standard
2v1 waves with one goal closing at the last moment.
Harder
2v2 waves with a second defender starting one second late.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: is the one who covers a goal with the pinnie and decides which one closes.
- Autism: is shown the rotation in a drawing and always starts as an attacker.
- Visual impairment: plays with a sound ball and wider goals, with a guide partner.
Learning goals
- Raise the heart rate with futsal-specific actions.
- Read and decide in response to a late change in the environment.
- Cooperate in numerical superiority with passing and off-ball movement.
Equipment for a class of 25
- futsal balls: 8
- cones: 16
- pinnies: 6
Teacher tip
Set up two or three identical stations so nobody waits more than 20 seconds; students not playing can be the ones closing the goal.
