Chain Tag
A twist on classic tag: whoever is tagged joins hands with the tagger, and the chain grows until everyone is caught. Great for group coordination.
How to play
- Mark the playing area with cones.
- Pick one student to start as the tagger.
- When the tagger catches someone, they join hands and chase together.
- The chain keeps growing with every tag until only one runner is left; that student starts the next round.
Rules
- The chain must stay connected — a tag made while the chain is broken does not count.
- Only the two ends of the chain can tag.
- Running out of bounds counts as being tagged.
Variations
Easier
The chain splits in two whenever it reaches 4 students.
Standard
One continuous chain until one runner is left.
Harder
Add a safe zone that opens for 5 seconds every 30 seconds.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: referee who opens and closes the safe zone.
- Shy students: start the game with a small chain already formed.
Learning goals
- Develop locomotor skills and spatial awareness.
- Cooperate to move as one group.
