Pinfuvote Any-Body-Part Net Game
An alternative net sport where the ball can be struck with any body part and one bounce is allowed between hits, blending moves from soccer, volleyball, and tennis. Students practice varied striking, teamwork on their own side, and reading the ball's path.
How to play
- Set up 3 courts about 25 by 15 feet split by a low net at about 3 feet. Teams of 4 (plus one sub who rotates in), two teams per court.
- Basic rules: hit the ball with any body part (hand, foot, gentle header, knee) without catching it. One bounce is allowed between hits.
- Each team has up to 3 hits to send the ball over, and no player may hit twice in a row.
- The other team scores if the ball bounces twice in a row, goes out, fails to clear the net, or is caught. Serve underhand from the back line into the opposing court.
- Games go to 7 points or 5 minutes. Then winners move one court to the right and losers one to the left. Play 4 games.
- In the last game, each team must use at least one foot hit and one hand hit per rally for the point to count.
Rules
- No catching or holding the ball.
- Only one bounce between hits and no one hits twice in a row.
- Don't touch the net or cross into the other court.
- Foot strikes stay below teammates' waist level so nobody gets hit in the face.
Variations
Easier
Allow two bounces and five hits per team, and lower the net to 2 feet.
Standard
Three hits per team with one bounce between hits.
Harder
No hands allowed except on the serve.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: play from the wheelchair at the front with two bounces allowed before the student's hit.
- Visual impairment: use a larger, brightly colored ball and have a teammate call the ball's path.
- Lower skill level: allow a catch-and-throw on the student's first contact in each rally.
Learning goals
- Strike the ball with different body parts depending on its path.
- Work with the team to build a play in three hits.
- Follow the rules and accept calls during play.
Equipment for a class of 25
- low net: 3
- foam ball: 4
- cones: 12
Teacher tip
This sport is very inclusive because each student uses the body part they control best. If the ball is light and it's windy, move indoors or use a slightly heavier ball.
