Partner Stunts Gallery Walk
Groups of 5 travel through a gallery of stations, each with a picture card of a partner stunt pyramid of increasing difficulty; they build it, hold it for 3 seconds, and take it down in order. Students practice cooperation, sharing roles, and building stunts safely.
How to play
- Safety review (3 min): weight goes on the base's hips and shoulders, never the spine; dismount in reverse order; the spotter stands ready with hands up.
- Set up 5 stations with 2 mats and a picture card of a stunt: two partner stunts, two trios, and one for five, each rated 1 to 3 stars.
- Each group of 5 starts at a station and assigns roles: bases, flyer, and spotter. They have 4 minutes to build the stunt, hold it 3 seconds, and take it down.
- Once it is still, the group calls 'Gallery!' and the teacher or the next group checks it. If it holds, they try the higher-star version on the back.
- Music plays and every 4 minutes groups rotate and swap roles so everyone is flyer and spotter at least once.
- Finish (2 min): every group builds its favorite stunt at the same time, turning the gym into a gallery when the music stops.
Rules
- Nobody climbs on anyone without a spotter ready alongside.
- Step only on a base's hips and shoulders, never on a sagging back or the neck.
- Dismount in reverse order and slowly; nobody jumps off the top.
- Bases keep a flat back with knees on the mat.
Variations
Easier
Use only one-star cards with partner stunts.
Standard
Rotate through the gallery choosing the level on each card.
Harder
Link two gallery stunts with a transition without fully taking down the first.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: the student spots or acts as a seated base in stable stunts and rates how still the stunt is.
- Hearing impairment: pair the station changes with a visual signal (light or raised sign) in addition to the music.
- Differences in size or strength: the teacher assigns base and flyer roles by size to avoid excessive loads.
Learning goals
- Build partner, trio, and group stunts safely.
- Rotate through different roles within the group.
- Hold stillness and body control during the stunt.
Equipment for a class of 25

Teacher tip
Laminate the cards with drawings and stars; keep your eyes on the trio and five-person stunts and stop the music if you see an arched back.
