Goal Through the Leg Tunnel
A group of children make a tunnel with their legs apart and the others kick the ball so it rolls all the way through. They practice low kicks and cooperation: the tunnel is part of the game too.

How to play
- In groups of five, three children stand in a row with legs apart to form a tunnel (2 min).
- The other two kick the ball from the cone so it rolls under the whole tunnel (4 min).
- Switch: the kickers now become the tunnel (3 min).
- Make the tunnel longer by joining two groups (2 min).
- Say goodbye to the tunnel by hugging the friend in front of you (2 min).
Rules
- I kick along the ground without lifting the ball.
- The tunnel stays still and keeps legs open.
- Tunnel kids face forward, toward the ball.
- Whoever is at the end of the tunnel fetches the ball.
Variations
Easier
For 3-year-olds, a two-child tunnel with legs very wide or a chair tunnel, kicking from very close.
Standard
For 4-year-olds, a three-child tunnel from the cone.
Harder
For 5-year-olds, a long tunnel and they choose which foot to kick with.
Adaptations
- Limited mobility: be part of the tunnel in the wheelchair next to a classmate, or push the ball with a pool noodle.
- Visual impairment: the last child in the tunnel claps to guide the kick.
- Autism: may be a tunnel by holding an upright hoop if close contact is uncomfortable.
Learning goals
- Kick along the ground with direction.
- Cooperate by being the tunnel.
- Take turns in different roles.
Equipment for a class of 25
- Soft balls: 6
- Cones: 6
Teacher tip
The tunnel faces the kicker so they can see the ball coming. Use soft balls: one will hit an ankle sooner or later and it'll be fine.
