How to play
- The teacher explains: while there are bubbles in the air we dance; when the last one pops, we freeze (1 min).
- First round with music: we dance freely while watching the bubbles (3 min).
- We dance like bubbles: round, floating, spinning slowly (3 min).
- The teacher blows few or many bubbles; we watch for the last one (3 min).
- A child plays teacher and calls out "it popped!" (2 min).
- One last very long freeze, then we sit down slowly (1 min).
Rules
- I dance while there are bubbles.
- When the last one pops, I'm a statue.
- I don't pop the bubbles: I watch them.
- I dance in my space without bumping.
Variations
Easier
For 3-year-olds, the teacher calls out "statue!" when the last one pops.
Standard
For 4-year-olds, they watch for the last bubble on their own.
Harder
For 5-year-olds, each round the teacher names the statue: a tree, a cat, on one foot.
Adaptations
- Motor-impaired: dances with arms and upper body and holds still for the statue.
- Hearing impairment: the game doesn't rely on music; watching the bubbles is enough.
- Visual impairment: a buddy taps their shoulder when it's statue time.
Learning goals
- Express oneself with the body to music.
- Stop moving on a visual cue.
- Keep attention on a cue.

Teacher tip
Always blow from the same spot and up high so everyone can see the bubbles. Start with few: if there are too many, they never run out.
